The landlords Peter and Caterina Hubert invited guests to the traditional “Tegernsee Strong Beer Festival”: Anna Duchess in Bavaria and Andreas Freiherr von Maltzan, Beate Merk, Korbinian and Suse Kohler, Victor Erdmann, Karl Auer, Sarah Kronsbein, Wolfgang Seybold and numerous other guests enjoyed strong beer and the Lenten sermon in the “Bräustüberl”.
The traditional “Derblecken” is not only a long-standing tradition at Munich’s Nockherberg, but also at the marvellous Tegernsee, more precisely at the “Herzogliches Bräustüberl Tegernsee”. On Wednesday evening, 20 March, restaurateur Peter Hubert and his wife Caterina hosted the “Tegernseer Starkbierfest” for the 13th time. The landlord and landlady were once again able to welcome numerous celebrities to their iconic premises, including Anna Duchess in Bavaria with her husband Andreas Freiherr von Maltzan, politician Dr Beate Merk with lawyer Christian Dennler, hotelier Korbinian Kohler (“Bachmair Weissach”) with his wife Suse Kohler (artist), lawyer Dr Wolfgang Seybold, Karl Auer (former owner of the Bachmair Weissach), Karl Auer (former owner of the Bachmair Weissach) and his wife Suse Kohler (artist). Wolfgang Seybold, Karl Auer (former president of 1860 Munich), entrepreneur Victor Erdmann with his wife Sandra, the publishing couple Wolfram and Christiane Weimer (who organise the annual “Ludwig Erhard Summit” on Lake Tegernsee) and music producer Erich Ließmann alias “Jean Frankfurter” (who has produced for Helene Fischer, among others). “This event is a classic here at Lake Tegernsee,” praised Anna Duchess in Bavaria and her husband Andreas Freiherr von Maltzan. She supported landlord Peter Hubert and Tegernsee Mayor Johannes Hagn in tapping the first barrel.
After the main course – Tegernsee char or roast pork with dumplings – came the long-awaited Lenten sermon. It lasted two hours, as there was once again a lot to tell. Lenten preacher Nico Schifferer had invested around 200 hours in it, as he explained. The great art of it? “Hitting hard – without hurting,” he explained. He addressed many current issues in the region. One of the main topics: “Building, building, building. A lot is being built in the region, but unfortunately not the swimming pool.” Markus Söder also came up for discussion, as did AI, artificial intelligence, farmers’ protests (“Why doesn’t the farmer like February? Because he can only moan for 28 days”) and, of course, tourism: “A normal person would think twice about whether to park in Kreuth or Bad Wiessee or whether they would rather spend three days travelling to Bad Griesbach.” And Schifferer received thunderous applause from the guests at the end.
“It was a bomb,” praised politician Dr Beate Merk. “The speech really hit the spot. It’s a first for me because it’s my first time. It was very direct, close and not superficial – with a great understanding of what people feel and think.”
