The artist Klaus Altmann from Rottach-Egern is not only known for his versatile works, but also for his inspiring studio. Watercolours, animal portraits and photographic art are created there, but the studio is much more than just a workplace. Even during his time as a forester, Klaus Altmann showed a keen interest in art. In 1993, he discovered old files in the Forestry Office that were supposed to be disposed of. But these files were on handmade paper from the Gmünd paper mill from 1858 and even bore the signature of the Royal Chief Forester Max Thoma, the father of the folk poet Ludwig Thoma.
For Klaus Altmann, these papers were both historically and artistically valuable and far too good to throw away. So without further ado, he packed up the stack and took it home with him. Since then, Klaus Altmann has turned his studio into a place of creative work and exchange. Not only do he create his own works here, but the studio also serves as a meeting place for other artists and art enthusiasts.
