The history of Armor-Lux dates back to 1858, when the blue and white striped shirt first appeared in the professional clothing of the French Navy. Originally designed with 21 stripes to make it easier to find a sailor floating in the water, the striped shirt has since become a fashion classic. In 1938, the Swiss Walter Hubacher founded the company Armor-Lux in Quimper on the Breton coast and began producing the classic Breton striped shirt. Today, the shirt is available in many colors and models and is an integral part of French culture, especially for those who spend their holidays by the sea. Customers experience this unique fashion in an authentic way at Armor-Lux on Sylt.
