The deer park is a landscaped garden that has been designed with wide meadows, imposing trees, picturesque groups of trees and various vantage points. The two French show gardens from the 19th century are further highlights. The deer gate is still home to fallow deer, reindeer, waterfowl and peacocks. Since 1924, the park has belonged to the municipality of Blankenese and was opened to the public in 1927. Today, the Hirschpark is a popular destination, especially for families with children, and a valued garden monument in Hamburg.

The Hirschpark in Hamburg-Nienstedten is an idyllic oasis that has borne its name for around 150 years and is still home to fallow deer today. Originally laid out in 1620 as a country estate by A. Oldehorst, the park delights with its impressive avenue of lime trees, which has existed since that time. In 1786, the merchant Johann Caesar Godeffroy acquired the property and had the neoclassical country house built, which today serves as a ballet school. In addition, there is the thatched cavalier house, known as “Witthüs”, which houses a tea room.
