Founded around 120 years ago, the Deutsches Museum with its five locations is one of the most traditional, largest and most important scientific and technical museums in the world. The vision of the museum’s founder, Oskar von Miller, has come to fruition: Here you can experience science and technology in a playful way – with demonstrations, experiments and demonstrations. Masterpieces of technology form a unique collection: from the first petrol car to the first airplanes, from the first microscopes to the first quantum processor.
Each of the five buildings has its own focus: the main building on Museum Island is a universe of knowledge and brings together almost all areas of science and technology. In the traffic centre you can experience the world of mobility, in the Schleißheim airfield you can marvel at planes and rockets. And in the branch museums in Nuremberg and Bonn you can experience the future.
However, all the houses of the Deutsches Museum are united by the fundamental idea of combining knowledge and fun, of bringing the most important achievements of mankind closer to experts and laymen, children and adults alike.
