Gold has been responsible, among other things, for the holistic strategic rebranding of the Grandhotel Vier Jahreszeiten brand, corporate design development and corporate products since 2017. And in this house she likes to linger in the “living hall” for 5 o’clock tea. Of course, the hotel’s restaurants are also highly recommended, but she is particularly fond of the living hall. When asked about her tips: “My absolute favorite among the restaurants in my beloved Hanseatic city of Hamburg is the bridge. Not only because a friend of mine, Frank Rübcke, co-founded it, but also because it has always been an illustrious meeting place for Hamburg’s creative minds and more or less prominent guests. A quiet, stylish icon of Hamburg’s gastronomy. In summer, people sit together on wooden benches in front of the restaurant, and when there is a market, it is especially nice to make a short stop on the bridge.”
The Daruma is Gold’s tip for a Japanese restaurant where many Japanese still eat themselves: the grass wallpaper, manga comics and the karaoke room testify to a rather classic Japanese pub, you sit around the open kitchen. A real Japanese behind the Deichtorhallen. For afternoon coffee, she prefers to go to Funkeck: “It’s wonderfully old-fashioned, you can also have a good breakfast there – in summer on the beautiful terrace.” The Deichtorhallen and the Kunsthalle are always worth a visit, but also the Museum of Arts and Crafts with its well-curated exhibitions, especially for design lovers.
“Since I lived in Mallorca for a long time, I would like to recommend Cal Dimoni in the middle of the island, where you sit directly at the charcoal grill and all Spanish families come by on Sundays. The dishes are simple and typically Mallorcan, the lamb shank from the grill is to kneel down. Nothing has changed here for 30 years, and the prices are very moderate. A family business with a heart. Perfect for those who love the original, simple Spanish cuisine.”
