The ITFS, also known as the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film, is one of the most renowned events in the field of animated film worldwide. Every year in spring, animation enthusiasts, artists and representatives of the industry come together in a stimulating festival atmosphere to celebrate the diverse world of animation. The festival focuses on artistic animated film with competitions for short and feature-length films, groundbreaking and transmedia projects as well as the promotion of up-and-coming talents. Through audience discussions, presentations and informal meetings, the direct exchange between filmmakers and the audience is facilitated and the dialogue about films, aesthetics, technology and content is stimulated.

The simultaneous implementation of the ITFS, the Animation Production Days and the FMX congress creates a unique platform for the animation industry. The Film- und Medienfestival gGmbH (FMF) is the organiser of the ITFS, which takes place annually in Stuttgart.
