The Lothringer 13 Halle is one of the art spaces operated by the Department of Culture of the City of Munich. Since 1980, this municipal institution for contemporary art has been located in the rooms of a former industrial area at Lothringer Straße 13 in the Haidhausen district. On an exhibition area of 700 square meters, changing curators realize nationally acclaimed exhibitions and projects with local and international artists.

The Lorraine 13 Halle has been curated by Lisa Britzger in collaboration with Luzi Gross (2020 – 2022) since 2020 and with Christina Maria Ruederer since winter 2021. Her program focuses on collaborative, context-specific, and transdisciplinary positions. With longer-term alliances and new temporary spaces, the potential of the place is activated for various uses. Artistic practice, its mediation and reflection are intended to act in a temporally and spatially condensed manner as an impulse for the collective negotiation of the present.

Areal – The Lothringer 13 Lokal in the front building hosts a changing programme of exhibition-related events, regular formats and guest projects. Next door to the hall in the courtyard is the FLORIDA Lothringer 13, the second municipal art space on the Lorraine 13 site.
