The Münchner Kammerspiele stands for bold, contemporary theatre art. Outstanding contemporary artists find ideal conditions here to further develop their work and provide new impetus.
As the “theatre of the city”, the Kammerspiele is closely linked to Munich and its history. As early as the 1910s and 1920s, it was a place for the new and the unexpected. Until the fascists seized power, the Kammerspiele was regarded as a space for artistic resistance and cultivated intensive relations with Eastern and Central Europe.
Today, the Kammerspiele theatre continues these founding traditions. The theatre brings new, often unheard voices to the stage to negotiate the pressing issues of our time. The attitude is open, passionate and confident – the Kammerspiele is a space in which the future is dreamed of, negotiated and made visible.
