The Nierstein Riesling is a classic in the VDP range. St. Antony Winery. It used to be a normal local wine. Since the amendment of the VDP. classification in 2018, the whole thing is called “VDP. Erste Lage”, which means that the grapes for this wine may only come from a “Erste Lage” certified by the VDP (= Association of German Prädikat Wine Estates). The St. Antony winery mainly owns VDP. Large vineyards on the Red Slope, from which the grapes for the Nierstein Riesling are also sourced. Since 2018, the St. Antony winery has been marketing the Nierstein Riesling as a “Erste Lage” wine. The Riesling is always composed of the VDP. Great vineyards that harmonize best with each other in the respective vintage.

In 2022, these are the VDP. Grosse lagen Pettenthal and Ölberg. Both sites are characterized by the mineral notes of the Rotliegen, on which the vines stand on the Red Slope.

The Nierstein Riesling 2022 was fermented spontaneously and aged in stainless steel tanks. It has a complex scent of yellow fruits and spices. A fine, clear Riesling with herbaceous spiciness that can be opened at any occasion and is extremely adaptive. Hats off and clear the stage for this fantastic price-indulgence bomb.
