In Stuttgart, Norbert Schneider appreciates the “really great” collegial dialogue with the other hotel managers: “There’s no competition, we all want to move the city forward.” He and his family also feel “very much at home” here, as Norbert Schneider says. This also has to do with his new workplace: “The Arcotel Camino has always been one of my favourite hotels in Stuttgart. The central location, the flair and the imposing architectural style have always impressed me.” With the new “7 paintings” dinner experience, he wants to open up his hotel even more to local guests – and there is huge interest in the show of art and cuisine.
To balance out his managerial job, Norbert Schneider plays tennis as often as possible. He describes himself as a “people person”: when it comes to eating, he particularly enjoys socialising with his family and friends. He loves to meet up in the beer garden of the Tschechen & Söhne restaurant on Karlshöhe on a beautiful summer’s day and enjoy the view of the city. “It transports me to another world,” he says. The same applies to a trip to the teahouse in Weißenburgpark, the listed Art Nouveau pavilion with terrace, pond and fountain in a beautiful semi-elevated location. “There I can forget the stress of everyday life around me and find peace with myself.”
Norbert Schneider knows the area around Marienplatz very well and is delighted with how Tübinger Straße in particular has developed in recent years. “There’s a really good vibe there.” He enjoys this over a cup of coffee at Galao, a real Stuttgart gastro institution. And on the way back, he can’t get past Gelateria Kaiserbau and its homemade ice cream. “I can’t resist a good ice cream, unfortunately.”
The hotelier’s insider tip is the restaurant Kurose am Feuersee, where he loves to eat sushi with his family. “It serves authentic Japanese cuisine with good products and is not overpriced. The ambience is rather rustic, it’s not about seeing and being seen, but we are looked after courteously by the very nice Japanese owners. The menu is huge, there’s something for everyone here.”
