Paula Bosch, Germany’s leading wine connoisseur and sommelier, has had a decisive influence on this development: she has not only made wine advice popular in Germany’s top gastronomy, but has also opened it up to women. Together with chef Hans Haas
In 1991, Bosch joined one of Germany’s most important top restaurants, Tantris in Munich. For 20 years, she advised guests on wine, but also shaped the wine taste of Germans with columns in the Süddeutsche Zeitung and with books.
Paula Bosch was the first sommelier in Germany to receive numerous awards, honours, orders and prizes. Now she has been awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit by Prime Minister Markus Söder. The award is a tribute to her personal commitment, her work, her great achievements as a sommelier for guests in the world of star gastronomy, in the world of wine and in the training of the next generation.
“My family has always loved to eat and drink. That’s why I like to go to the Viktualienmarkt: I get the porcini mushrooms from Renate Zollner, the vegetables from Trübenecker – all in organic quality. Fresh fish is available at Witte and cheese as well as the best white sausage and great pretzels and salt sticks at Dallmayer.” And a favorite restaurant? Paula Bosch doesn’t want to commit herself. Favorite places to drink wine in Munich? Very well – and she tells us, among other things, the following: Wine Bistro & Restaurant Landersdorfer & Innerhofer. “Superb food, great wine list and underclass service! Not only does the restaurant cook first-class, but it also has a superbly stocked wine cellar, which benefits the wine bar & wine shop right next door. Robert Innerhofer
for wine lovers and connoisseurs always the best wines from the almost inexhaustible cellar. Another favorite place of mine in Munich is: the Werneckhof Sigi Schelling in Schwabing. This is an “inn” among the city’s gourmet restaurants, which everyone leaves happy and likes to come back. The Grapes wine bar isn’t just a place to hang out late, it’s a nice place. The advice from the team is also good.” “When buying wine, I recommend mountain wine in Corneliusstraße. With its wine range, I think this is currently the safe address for first-class quality away from Burgundy, Bordeaux or classic Italian selection. Mountain wine gives the wines an urban appearance in Munich.”
