Saddle up and ride out in what is probably one of the most beautiful mountain landscapes in the world: in the wintry Rauris Valley, riding enthusiasts will also get their money's worth.

Winter sports enthusiasts, snow lovers and pleasure-seekers: They all love coming to Rauris in southern Salzburger Land. The natural village in the heart of the Hohe Tauern National Park promises some unforgettable winter adventures. Even on horseback: from the back of a relaxed Icelandic horse, the region and the snow-covered landscape are particularly beautiful to explore. There are perfect opportunities for beginners and advanced riders right in the valley.

Riding lessons at the riding stables – switch off at Alpina
Two Rauris businesses have joined forces to offer guests of the Rauris Valley an unforgettable holiday with horses: The “pur isi” riding centre, which has its own Icelandic breed, offers riding for beginners and advanced riders. The boss, Laura, is personally available at the arena or – in the event of bad weather – in the riding hall. The “Reitsport Embach” riding centre is home to horses from small to large, including a wide variety of horse breeds such as warmbloods, Arabians, Spaniards, Haflingers and Shetland ponies. Beginners and advanced riders are individually supervised by Alexandra, a state-certified dressage trainer, and can improve their riding skills with customised riding lessons. Particularly attractive is the covered riding arena, which makes it possible to ride without restrictions even in bad weather. Children are also well catered for: the riding centre offers special children’s riding lessons where the little ones can playfully learn how to handle horses and gain their first riding experience.

Just ten kilometres away, at the **** Hotel Alpina, you can pitch your tent if you do need to leave your beloved horse’s side. The family-run hotel works closely with the two riding centres. But guests who are getting on a horse for the first time or only want to book individual lessons are also in good hands at the Alpina. Not least because a successful day of riding comes to an ideal end here: first in the wellness area with sauna and pool, then in the restaurant with regional and creative culinary delights from the hotel kitchen. The Prommegger host family prioritise the enjoyment and well-being of their guests. A fact that you can feel here at all times – as a rider, but also as a winter sports enthusiast and connoisseur.
