Our biggest journey began in 1994: we realized our dream of owning our own jewelry brand. As a brand name, we combined the words “piece of jewellery” and “work of art” to form SCHMUCKWERK. But WERK also stands for a magical place: our manufactory in a historic paper mill in the beautiful Angertal in Ratingen. Here we were able to realize our vision of a company completely freely and without any previous burdens or specifications and have since been able to transform emotions into jewelry.

Here, jewelry is made out of emotions. Here, SCHMUCKWERK is constantly reinventing itself and surprising with unique jewellery ideas. Heike and Markus Schmidt and their team want to move with jewellery, appeal to all the senses and convey a piece of joie de vivre every day. Heike and Markus Schmidt immediately liked the opportunity to practice their craft in a traditional “factory” such as the old paper mill in Ratingen: The historic ambience gives SCHMUCKWERK its authenticity.
The craft.
Traditional goldsmith’s art and state-of-the-art production go hand in hand at Schmuckwerk. State-of-the-art technologies allow goldsmiths to create jewelry that is unique and new. And what’s more, every goldsmith produces “his” piece of jewellery from start to finish. Until it’s perfect. He is also responsible for quality. In the end, the individual hallmark of each goldsmith ennobles the piece of jewellery into a unique little work of art. This is how jewellery is created that has honestly earned the title “Made in Germany”.

In the meantime, around 30 designers, goldsmiths, jewellers, marketing experts, accountants and account managers are working together with us to make our dream come true and to create new, unique jewellery ideas. With attention to detail and the best craftsmanship, they ensure that the fine creations of SCHMUCKWERK are of the best quality. All gold and platinum jewellery is made in Ratingen. The Ratingen-based jewellery family is supported by a team in Cape Town that produces the stainless steel collections. External designers, goldsmiths and gemstone setters help when the capacities in Ratingen are not sufficient to meet all customer requirements.
