In 1982, Charles Schumann opened Schumann’s American Bar at Maximilianstraße 36. In the meantime, Schumann’s Bar has moved to the enchanting Hofgarten and celebrated its 40th birthday in 2022. But over the years, Charles Schumann has remained true to his principles. For him, simplicity is what counts. Cocktails? Preferably classic and with a few, but selected ingredients. Good service and the highest quality are his top priorities, without unnecessary frills. Charles Schumann is a man who values honesty and directness. Sometimes he can be seen outside in the courtyard garden, with an apron over his suit, cutting potatoes. In his inimitable way, he says: “There is no secret to Schumann’s fried potatoes. No one else can prepare them like that.”
