In 2008, Hamburg’s book lovers discovered a new place of longing: the stories! bookshop opened on Straßenbahnring/Falkenried. Even a glance at the shop window shows that this bookshop is different. Owner Annerose Beurich focuses on stories and presents them in her shop in an unusual way: the books are not placed back to back on the shelves, but with the covers frontally and clearly visible in frames. This creates an inspiring, lively atmosphere. The focus is on fiction, with opulent photography books, children’s books, cookery books, travel guides and a large selection of English-language books. In the reading room, you can indulge in reading in peace, while a coffee bar tempts you with espresso, latte and pastries. The personal commitment of the experienced staff, who have all read their “favourite books” themselves in order to have the right book or an individual gift tip ready for their customers, is well received by customers.
Annerose has more than 30 years of bookselling and and reading experience and finds the right book for EVERY people and EVERY occasion the right book. One of the many reasons why a sparkling wine is named after her…

My third life
(Daniela Krien)

After the accidental death of her daughter, Linda falls into an abyss of grief and a lack of perspective. She recapitulates the events in an endless loop, trying to find the one moment that could have changed the course of events. Without a relationship, silenced and numb, she glides through her days – which she structures through hard work and medication. And yet: the reader senses the fine, spidery threads that bind her to the world sooner than Linda does: Small encounters, warmth, friendliness, a smile. Threads become ropes and we accompany Linda back into an everyday life that makes new things possible without denying the past. Because: “Interpreting backwards is of no use to living forwards”. A sensitive and healing book about crises, losses and the possibility of survival.
