The Festival of Cultures is committed to diversity and against all forms of racism. Every year, Stuttgart's market square hosts the Summer Festival of Cultures, where visitors can take part in a diverse culinary experience free of charge. Various stalls offer a wide selection of dishes from all over the world. In addition to live music, a variety of workshops are also offered, but above all the focus here is on encounters.

In 2001, the first Summer Festival of Cultures was organized. At that time, it was still a smaller event in the courtyard of the Old Orphanage. Over the years, the festival, organized by the Forum der Kulturen Stuttgart e.V., has developed into an unparalleled success story in Germany.

Over the course of six days, people will dance, celebrate and enjoy themselves in Stuttgart. World music stars delight visitors with rousing concerts covering various genres such as griot, indie rock, ska, Balkan beats, cumbia, rumba and flamenco. Admission to the concerts is free. Stuttgart’s (post-)migrant organisations and initiatives also provide a wide range of culinary delights from all over the world and a varied cultural programme for adults and children. A colourful market of cultures also stretches through the side streets of the market square.
