The Wilhelma consists of two parts: the historic royal park of William I from the first half of the 19th century, characterized by its Moorish buildings, and the modern botanical and zoological garden, which was created after 1945. The historic parts of the park are protected as a particularly important cultural monument.
The diversity of Wilhelma is impressive – both in terms of flora and fauna. Visitors can get to know and admire exotic animals from different continents. From majestic lions and elegant giraffes to playful monkeys and colorful birds, there’s something for every animal lover to discover. In the botanical gardens of Wilhelma, visitors can admire an impressive collection of plants from all over the world. From colorful flower beds to lush tropical greenhouses, there are countless ways to enjoy the beauty of the plant life.
