It was a glamorous evening in the German hotel industry: the 101 Next Generation Hotelier of the Year and Sustainable Hospitality Award were presented in Munich. Celebrities such as Isabell Stern, Jonathan Beck, Michael Stich, Sandra Abt as well as Simone Ballack and Heiko Grothe honored the winners.
Louis Steinle, Hotel Manager at Das Achental Resort on Lake Chiemsee, received the 101 Next Generation Hotelier of the Year award. The award was presented by Carsten K. Rath and Dr. Caroline von Kretschmann. The jury praised Steinle’s extraordinary hospitality. Other finalists were Anna Wiesler from Hotel Wiesler and Julia Kolb from Hotel Riva. Carsten K. Rath emphasized the importance of the award for the young generation and sustainable hotels.
The board of trustees behind the prize includes personalities such as Professor Nico Hofmann, Frank Marrenbach, Dr. Caroline von Kretschmann and Suzann Heinemann. Carsten K. Rath and Suzann Heinemann initiated the event four years ago.
The Sustainable Hospitality Award went to the Hotel SCHWARZWALD PANORAMA for its pioneering role in sustainability. Stephan Bode, managing owner, has aligned the hotel with a circular economy and is striving for energy self-sufficiency by 2030. The Hotel Luise in Erlangen and the Naturhotel Pfösl in South Tyrol were also nominated. Michael Stich presented the award, and Suzann Heinemann emphasized the growing responsibility of the hotel industry for sustainability.
