One of the most interesting construction sites in Germany was the former anti-aircraft bunker in the heart of St. Pauli, directly between Feldstraße and the Millerntor Stadium of FC St. Pauli. Since 2019, the listed concrete block has been expanded by five pyramid-like floors and spectacularly greened. Now a hotel, several gastronomic offers and a hall for sports and cultural events have been built up there. However, rooms for district culture, exhibition spaces and accommodation for scholarship holders and artists were also planned. The freely accessible roof garden at a height of about 60 meters with more than 7600 square meters of green and communal areas is spectacular. A great concept: to finally counter this brutalism from a dark German past with lush green and to occupy it.
The highlight you can look forward to is the hiking trail, on which you can walk around the outside of the bunker to the roof.
