The temporary exhibitions often take up difficult social issues and invite reflection. The listed entrance hall and the central entrance areas are impressive. In addition, the Egyptian mummies, somewhat hidden and excitingly staged, are a fascinating highlight not only for children.

The eventful history of the Museum am Rothenbaum has been reflected in its various names since its founding as a museum of cultural history in 1871. At all times, the house faced up to new scientific and socio-political developments. This was repeatedly accompanied by questions about the role of the museum for urban society, science and the museum landscape.
