Miguel Conde and his wife Cristina Marti have carefully restored the former 17th century palace – the soul of the house is is palpable in every room and their passion for art and design is visible everywhere. The result is an extraordinary interior concept, that combines Mallorca’s cultural heritage with contemporary art in a very special with contemporary art to create an eclectic overall concept.
In general, Can Cera is a place of connection, coming together and enjoyment. Just 14 rooms – all individually furnished, an in-house bar on the second floor, the Salon Rojo with a fine marble block, a library, a private spa, the Vermutería in the patio and art and design objects everywhere. It feels a bit like staying with good friends, authentic and with an absolutely intimate feel-good atmosphere – which is not least due to the personal concierge service with a “nothing is too much trouble” attitude, without being intrusive.
A potpourri of art, design and history
As you enter the hotel through the inconspicuous wooden gate, you have no idea what a jewel is hidden behind these historic walls. Early in the morning, the sun shines diagonally into the palatial inner courtyard and creates a breathtaking atmosphere for the first coffee of the day. The natural light sets the marble staircase with Art Deco banisters and the impressive ceramic installation by Jaume Roig in an artistic setting at any time of day. Curated art by renowned local and Spanish artists can be discovered throughout the hotel – Andriana Meunié, Fernando Fabré and Alicia Marsanas, to name but a few.
The stylish composition of art and architecture is perfectly complemented by numerous timeless design classics: Lamps such as the Sampei by Davide Groppi or the TMM by Miguel Milá. In the study , which has more of an avant-garde feel, a customised six-metre-long oak table – the iconic Mobby Dick luminaires by Matteo Ugolini could not wish for a better setting. the iconic Mobby Dick lights by Matteo Ugolini could not wish for.
“I wanted to create places where time seems to pass more slowly.” ∼ MIGUEL CONDE
The jewel in the crown is the Junior Suite Gallery, which – as the name suggests – has its own gallery. Those who sleepily climb out of the feather-soft bed in the morning enjoy phenomenal light, that artfully filters through the hand-woven curtains in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows. Time really does seem to stand still here. An impressive place of tranquillity, which nevertheless offers space for inspiring encounters and conversations.
Miguel Conde calls ita “home away from home” feeling. An unobtrusive, quiet luxury for those seeking peace and quiet with a sense of the extraordinary.
Tip: From Thursday to Sunday evening, the Salon Rojo is the centre of the hotel. A real insider tip for inspiring conversations, encounters and lovers of the art of cocktails. Be sure to try the Bloody Mary. Legendary!
