Lush greenery, alpine herbs, palm trees and rustic alpine huts. South Tyrol is known for its multifaceted landscape, where Mediterranean flair meets Alpine lightness. It really does exist - love at first sight. When Luis Hillebrand walked into the Parkhotel for the first time, he was immediately smitten. His vision: to bring the beauty of South Tyrol to life - in the heart of the Allgäu.

100% South Tyrol – in the middle of the Allgäu

South Tyrol is a place where Alpine down-to-earthness meets Mediterranean lightness. Where enjoyment and culinary delights are writ large, the heart is in the right place and where people are simply happier – and it is precisely this way of life that Luis Hillebrand, a genuine South Tyrolean, wants to bring this way of life to life – in the heart of the Allgäu.

“The hotel park is our absolute centerpiece. The two areas reflect the two hearts of the South Tyrolean people and combine Mediterranean flair with Alpine lightness.” ~ Luis Hillebrand

The history of the Parkhotel dates back to the 19th century. century and is closely associated with Sebastian Kneipp – the namesake of the Kneipp town of Bad Wörishofen. In 1908, Baroness Leoprechting had a villa built right next to the hotel, which over time grew together to form a complete complex. The garden, which is over 7.000sqm garden with two natural lakes, palm trees and a large infinity pool still form the heart of the complex today.

7,000 sqm park with palm trees, infinity pool and alpine details

The special feature: There is an alpine part with huts made of rustic shingles and an original Ultner herb garden and a Mediterranean section with palm trees and an infinity pool. This is where the two hearts of the South Tyroleans meet, combine alpine lightness with Mediterranean flair and reflect the multifaceted landscape of South Tyrol.

“There are details and products from my homeland everywhere in the hotel and bring the South Tyrolean joie de vivre to the heart of the Allgäu.” ~ Luis Hillebrand

With great attention to detail , the vision – to bring the South Tyrolean way of life to the Allgäu was realized and a special kind of refuge was created. There are details from my home country everywhere, explains Luis Hillebrand. A photo here on the wall, a piece of cheese at the Marende or the truly exceptional honey for breakfast – Luis has a personal anecdote for everything. He has maintained a friendly relationshipwith many of his suppliers for years, because it is he himself who repeatedly travels to the small manufacturers and farms in his and brings selected products to the Parkhotel. Enjoyment is just as important here as quality. For Luis Hillebrand , authenticity and traditional craftsmanship Hillebrand the framework for genuine South Tyrolean culinary art.

„I would like to bring the culinary art of my homeland to the Allgäu!“ ~ Luis Hillebrand

And for South Tyroleans , food means more than just eating. It is an expression of joie de vivre, togetherness and enjoyment. We make timefor that, Luis enthuses. Whether it’s a sweet apple strudel or a hearty Marende – the way to a man ‘s heart is through his stomach. And a “Glaggele wine” at the South Tyrol bar in the hotel is always a good choice anyway.

Regional cuisine. Maximum enjoyment.

Alpine down-to-earthness meets Mediterranean lightnessin the restaurant. Delicious dishes with natural ingredients, the herbs come from the hotel’s own garden. High-quality products from small local producers – that’ s all you need, emphasizes Luis Hillebrand. South Tyrolean speck, fresh alpine cheese, original Schlutzkrapfen or a racy glass of wine from the Merano winery. 100% South Tyrolean feeling – in the middle of the Allgäu.

“We source the herbs for our dishes directly from our own garden – you can ‘t get fresher than that.” ~ Mario Scusio, head chef at the Parkhotel

Some of it is so beautiful that you can hardly believe it. The two natural lakes shine like sparkling emeralds in the sunshine. Alpine edelweiss meets Mediterranean flair between snow-capped mountain peaks and palm-fringed promenades. Pleasure meets joie de vivre and nature meets culture. Perhaps the key to happiness lies in all these supposed opposites, that make South Tyrol what it is. But it’s best to find out for yourself.
