Last weekend I visited the Ice Race again. I took the opportunity to get to know Ferdi Porsche and his team. Well done guys, you made this event an extraordinary experience! It was a pleasure to talk to many partners and investors, friends and fans of our brand. At Porsche, we welcomed former F1 driver Mark Webber, two-time World Rally Champion Walter Röhrl and Olympic skiing legend Aksel Svindal. With a rich and fascinating history, the Ice Race invites professional and amateur riders from all over the world to tackle the snowy circuit with everything from two-wheeled and four-wheeled race cars to skijoring demonstrations and buggies. It is an event that we at Porsche AG participate in and sponsor with great pride and pleasure.
Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side this year, heavy rain and temperatures above freezing ruined the race… but that didn’t stop us from having a good time! Around 100 drivers put on a fantastic show, driving around the track one after the other, watched from the grandstands full of thousands of enthusiastic fans. Against the wintry backdrop of the Austrian Alps, it was an unforgettable sight! In addition, the Porsche Museum brought one of the largest collections of the legendary Porsche 550 Spyder to the event. In the 1950s, only about 100 of these beautiful cars were built, so it was a real treat for Porsche fans to see ten of them in one place! To complement these classics, we showed different generations of the Panamera, as well as the 718 Spyder RS and the all-electric GT4 e-Performance.
For me, the Ice Race is a wonderful celebration of car culture. It’s not just about the cars themselves; It’s about bringing together a community of enthusiasts with a shared passion. Even if the temperatures weren’t cold enough, the incredibly warm atmosphere definitely makes up for it!
