The Tonhalle Düsseldorf is an outstanding concert hall on the banks of the Rhine. With first-class acoustics and over 450 concerts per year, from classical to pop, the former planetarium is a cultural highlight. This is also the home of the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, a renowned orchestra with centuries of tradition. The Tonhalle is a place of music and encounters that enriches Düsseldorf's cultural landscape.

On the banks of the Rhine in Düsseldorf is a cultural gem that is much more than a concert hall. Originally conceived as a planetarium, the Tonhalle Düsseldorf was converted into a concert hall in the 1970s. After an extensive renovation in 2005, the Tonhalle shines in new splendour and is now considered not only one of the most beautiful concert halls in Germany, but also one with outstanding acoustics.
The impressive blue dome of the concert hall has been equipped with light-emitting diodes and a sophisticated lighting concept, which gives the performances in the Tonhalle an additional visual experience. Today, the Tonhalle is once again becoming what it has always been: a “planetarium of music”.
With over 450 concerts and more than 300,000 spectators per year, the Tonhalle offers a wide range of musical genres, from classical music and jazz to pop, soul and cabaret. Numerous artists have already triumphed here and thrilled the audience.
The Tonhalle is also home to the Düsseldorf Symphony Orchestra, an orchestra with almost 400 years of tradition. The orchestra with its 130 musicians not only plays symphony concerts in the Tonhalle, but is also involved in the opera and carries out educational projects and open-air events. In this way, it enriches the cultural life in Düsseldorf and carries its good reputation internationally.
The Tonhalle Düsseldorf is not only a place of music, but also a place of encounter and cultural exchange. This is where people come together to experience and celebrate the diversity of the arts, and the Tonhalle remains a shining star in the firmament of Düsseldorf’s culture.
