The eyewear manufacturer MYKITA has its roots in 2003 in Berlin, a city known for its independent spirit and cultural diversity. The founders, first and foremost Moritz Krueger, were inspired by the first premises in a former daycare center, or Kita for short. Not only in naming, but also in cultivating a culture of curiosity and lifelong learning.
MYKITA’s philosophy has been clear from the beginning: to challenge existing norms and conventions and to pursue a unique aesthetic vision. This pioneering spirit led to the development of an independent production facility and the creation of its own tools and processes, which still form the basis of the modern manufactory today.
Since 2014, the MYKITA HAUS has been located in a listed building in Berlin-Kreuzberg, where a diverse team from different nations works closely with the worldwide MYKITA team. This constant exchange is reflected in the high quality of the products.
The design language of MYKITA is characterized by an honest and uncompromising approach to materials and constructions. A distinctive feature is the open presentation of the construction, especially the iconic spiral joint, which is both a functional design element and an unmistakable trademark. Visible construction has become the basic design principle.
MYKITA sets new standards in design and manufacturing without relying on logos or luxury codes. Instead, intensive work is being done on the further development of constructions, materials and surfaces in order to perfect the characteristic MYKITA aesthetic.
MYKITA’s creative design team consists of a diverse group of product designers and engineers. This interdisciplinary approach makes it possible to constantly develop new perspectives and drive product development at the highest level. Each model of glasses is checked and thought through down to the smallest detail, always with the wearer at the centre.
