In the culinary world of Knalle – the popcorn shop in Berlin – popcorn dreams are created by hand and with passion. Founded by Lucie, André and Christopher, who previously worked in high-end gastronomy, the journey began with a sweet idea to improve popcorn. Lucie accepted the challenge and began experimenting, which immediately met with a positive response.
Johannes joined the team to develop the right look for the delicious creations. Their breakthrough came at the Naschmarkt in Kreuzberg’s Markthalle Neun, where they sold the first Knalle popcorn. The feedback was overwhelming and so in 2016 they founded the Popkornditorei Knalle in Berlin-Friedrichshain.
As the fan base grew, new popcorn creations continued to emerge. Together with workshops for people with disabilities that take care of packaging and shipping, they were able to meet the increasing demand.
Today, Knalle can be found online and in its own store in Berlin-Prenzlauer Berg, in Berlin’s KaDeWe and in delicatessens throughout Germany. The popcorn shop is a real pleasure: the popcorn is air-popped fat-free and refined and baked according to the finest recipe.
It is particularly noteworthy that Knalle has been a climate-neutral company since November 2020. From the extraction of raw materials to production in Berlin to the point of sale, all greenhouse gas emissions are offset by recognized climate protection projects.
Knalle attaches great importance to climate-friendly action, produces by hand, ships climate-neutrally and uses green electricity. Air travel is avoided and train travel is preferred. The short distances in Berlin also contribute to sustainability.
