His stops included Fairmont hotels with big names: the Savoy in London, the Plaza in New York and the Scottsdale Princess in Arizona. He also made a stopover on the Caribbean island of St. Martin, at the Belmond Samanna. Back in Germany, he first signed on at the Althoff Seehotel Überfahrt on Lake Tegernsee and then went to the Althoff Hotel am Schlossgarten in Stuttgart. After the closure of the hotel for renovation, he returned to the starting point of his career: Berlin! Since February he has acted as interim general manager of the new hotel Telegraphenamt in Mitte and since May 23 he is General Manager of the Hotel De Rome.
Rocco Forte’s five-star group exerts a special attraction on the experienced manager, who was named one of the top 50 hoteliers in Germany by the Aral Schlemmer Atlas in 2021 and 2022 respectively. The prominent location and the view, as well as the opportunity to make the house fit for the future together with his new team, are particularly appealing to him.
“The Hotel de Rome, a Rocco Forte hotel in Berlin, is more than just luxurious accommodation. As one of the few luxury hotels in an original historic building, it is an architectural masterpiece and a piece of living history. Housed in a magnificent 19th-century building that once served as the headquarters of Dresdner Bank, the hotel skilfully combines historic charm with contemporary design and modern comfort. The careful restoration has preserved the impressive features of the original building and the hotel’s rooms and suites are stylishly furnished and offer state-of-the-art facilities. One of the highlights is the roof terrace with a magnificent view over the city. Another highlight: the De Rome Spa in the former bank vault with the 20-metre pool and the in-house restaurant CHIARO inspires with authentic Italian cuisine. A stay at the Hotel de Rome offers not only first-class service, but also a unique location in the heart of Berlin. Located directly on Bebelplatz, important sights such as the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Museum Island and the Brandenburg Gate are only a few steps away,” says Ulrich Schwer.
The Hotel de Rome is one of “The Leading Hotels of the World”. For more information, check the web: https://www.roccofortehotels.com/de/hotels-and-resorts/hotel-de-rome/
