At the Hansenhof Sylt in Morsum, the easternmost village on the island, you can experience the true Frisian idyll. Here, houses and chickens coexist comfortably side by side, fields and meadows stretch to the horizon. The atmosphere is warm, direct and uncomplicated – typically Frisian. Since 1910, the farm has been run by the fourth generation, and today it is the only chicken farm on the island. He is best known for his Sylt eggs.

The stars of the Hansenhof, however, are its chickens, or more precisely, the legendary Sylt eggs. Around 2,500 chickens of the “Lohmann” variety have a true paradise here with a spacious meadow where they can scratch, peck and relax to their heart’s content. The chickens lay their eggs in the dark, because they do not like bright light, which has a significant influence on the quality of the eggs. The well-being of the animals is paramount here, and chicken baron Andreas Hansen ensures ideal conditions, from the feed to the lighting of the barn.

The Sylt eggs are known and sought after far beyond the island’s borders. In the lovingly designed farm shop of the Hansenhof, visitors will not only find these sought-after eggs, but also an impressive range of Sylt and regional products. From homemade fruit spreads to products of lamb and Galloway, Sylt potatoes, eggnog and much more – connoisseurs will find what they are looking for here.

And for those who can’t be on the island, the Hansenhof-Sylt online shop offers the opportunity to bring a piece of Sylt home. In addition to the farm shop, the Sylter Lädchen by Hansenhof opened in Westerland and expands the range of island and regional products to 70 m² of retail space, while potatoes and eggs are still only available in the farm shop in Morsum.
