The soap factory, which is run by Nicole Haag and her husband, has a long history: in 1756, the company Seifen Haag was founded in Stuttgart and until its temporary closure in 2000 it was the oldest of its guild in the state capital.

It has endured over a period of 244 years and has been honoured with various awards. As early as 1880, Carl Friedrich Haag, who worked in the fourth generation, was appointed purveyor to the royal court. He had the honour of supplying Queen Olga with a bitter almond soap, her favourite scent. When Carl Heinz Albert Haag died in 1999, the business had to be closed due to a lack of a successor. In 2013, Nicole Haag had the opportunity to revive series production in the seventh generation as part of a professional reorientation. Her husband Matthias Haag, a nephew of the last owner, actively supported her. “We produce everything regionally by hand in Stuttgart. We attach great importance to plastic-free sustainability and that every customer, if interested, can get in touch with our suppliers. We are also happy to welcome visitors to our soap factory,” says Nicole Haag.

Tips from Nicole Haag

Blackbird and in Untertürkheim
A not too big restaurant with a young, ambitious team. What I particularly like is a clear menu with a focus on regional.

Lamber Eduard
A small café in the north of Stuttgart, you always meet someone from the neighborhood or get to know new neighbors. Very tasty petit four.

Favourite place Stuttgart: Rotenberg and Uhlbach
The view from above into the Neckar valley is simply fantastic and Uhlbach with its market square is a gem. It’s probably because I grew up in the corner there.

Spain – Favourite city Madrid
A vibrant young city, I’ve been there at least once a year for 20 years, and every time there’s something new to discover.

Mo de Movimento
A great concept, also a young team with a very imaginative menu.

Bilba Kafetegia
They have the very best tortilla I’ve eaten. There are only local guests and everything is very authentic. Anyone who comes to Bilbao must have been there.
Address: Uriortu Kalea, 10, 48007 Bilbo, Biscay, Spain

Hotel Asturias
One of my favorite hotels. A small, owner-managed hotel right on the coast in Asturias. Manolo, the owner, has renovated the old walls about as much as we did in the soap factory. That’s where the special connection comes from.
